The Men Wot Stare at Goats

Thursday October 15th 2009

London Film Festival. Day Two. Stardate 63289.8.

The Men Who Stare At Goats is a movie about Guardian journalist Jon Ronson (he’s called Bob Wilton in the movie) and his investigation into the US Army’s use of paranormal research.

It’s all been transposed to America which (as ever) is fair enough, although Ewan McGregor’s accent is LITERALLY TORTURE. For about fifteen minutes anyway, after which he either toned it down or I just stopped noticing.

TMWSAG is best described as ‘a romp’ (aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh), but that’s not to say that it isn’t fairly good. Better than the trailer implied anyway.

BONUS FACT: If you start typing the name of this movie into Google, it suggests ‘Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians’, which presumably is the sequel or something.

BONUS PHOTO: I saw this in the Vue West End loos and it made me chuckle:
