You may have noticed some advertising for The Time That Remains, Elia Suleiman’s new black comedy, on Ultra Culture this week. This could have presented a problem if I’d gone to see the film and it had been shit. I probably wouldn’t have posted a review at all (I’ve still got a review of Bride Wars somewhere that I wrote for another website and never got posted because of advertising conflicts.)
Luckily for all concerned, The Time That Remains is very good. It’s funny, well paced and quite beautiful, although it does that slightly annoying thing where EVERY SINGLE shot in the movie has to be entirely symmetrical.
A pleasant surprise in a week in which Space Chimps 2 isn’t even the worst film due for release.
