I know what you’re thinking: ‘Hooray! Another Ultra Culture post about Trash Humpers!’ Well calm down, I promise I haven’t got some kind of profit-share agreement with Warp. Yet, anyway.
But when you go to check the post in the morning and find a VHS cassette hand-designed by Harmony Korine, it’s hard not to get excited about it.
My copy has been adapted from a tape of the 1985 Susan Sarandon non-classic Compromising Positions, but benefits from a large amount of scratchings, stabbings and felt tip ‘blood’ that I can only assume were absent from the original design.
The synopsis on the back has also been altered, and now makes for a surprisingly accurate description of the film enclosed.
I haven’t had a chance to give it a test run yet, although from the look of the tape it might function better as a piece of art than a home entertainment device.
One for the shelf.
