I’ve never seen Wall Street (shoot me) and I’m not a hardcore Stone-fan, so I had relatively little invested in how good Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was. Which is lucky, because otherwise I’d have been disappointed.
To the uninitiated, it’s just an incredibly bland way to spend 133 minutes.
Actors are good, script’s OK, Stone’s direction is bizarre but kind of acceptable, and then of course there’s that mobile phone joke:
As you might expect, there are also plenty of FUCKING BRILLIANT (sarcasm) references to the first film, most of which are completely unrelated to the plot. A cameo from Charlie ‘Ma Sheen’ Sheen tells us nothing except that he’s managed to overtake Michael Douglas in the aging process.
September is shit, bring on the LFF.
