Documentary Corner: Tabloid

Thursday October 14th 2010

Errol Morris (The Thin Red Line, The Fog of War) has a very good voice. He sounds a bit like Donald Sutherland. I think only people with very good voices should be allowed to make documentaries. In fact, I’d be content if all documentaries were made either by Errol Morris or Werner Herzog. It would be a happier world.

Morris’ new one is about the 1977 Joyce McKinney sex-in-chains scandal, and it’s the most fun I’ve had at the LFF so far. 87 minutes of complex, intriguing and always entertaining interviews intertwined with Morris’ trademark stylistic touches and occasional interjections. Tickets for the two LFF showings seem to still be available, so book it up suckas.

And while I’m being positive about something, I guess I might as well introduce you to my exciting new ‘Out Of 1‘ reviewing system:

As you can see, it’s a solid 0.85 out of 1.

Aggregate that, Rotten Tomatoes.
