It’s officially summer and once again, Film4 are partnering with Somerset House to make sure that everyone outside of London is well and truly losing out. This year’s outdoor ‘Film4 Summer Screen’ returns for 10 nights in July and August and here are the deets:
| THURSDAY 30 JULY | UK Premiere of Pedro Almodóvar’s Broken Embraces |
| FRIDAY 31 JULY | Alien & Poltergeist double-bill |
| SATURDAY 1 AUGUST | West Side Story |
| SUNDAY 2 AUGUST | Slumdog Millionaire |
| MONDAY 3 AUGUST | Shawshank Redemption |
| TUESDAY 4 AUGUST | Wings of Desire |
| WEDNESDAY 5 AUGUST | Don’t Look Now |
| THURSDAY 6 AUGUST | Strangers on a Train |
| FRIDAY 7 AUGUST | Cool Hand Luke & Road House double-bill |
| SATURDAY 8 AUGUST | Raiders of the Lost Ark |
Tickets aren’t cheap (but could be worse) and you’re risking crappy weather but it could be pretty wicked if you bring a cushion and get there early enough to get a good space.
There will be 2000 people there.
I’ve only ever been to one outdoor film and it was Die Another Day on Clapham Common when I was 11. I can’t remember if it was any good but…
FULL DISCLOSURE: I’ve recently been given tickets to the Alien/Poltergeist night
… so I’ll let you on the 1st August how it was. I am concerned about surround sound clarity. As ever.
