I was at a pub with a friend of mine last night and we were ‘talking shop’ when he mentioned that a colleague of his had complimented my blog but asked what my problem with Sandra Hebron was. This is a question I have been asked several times, both in the real world and on Twitter, Facebook and the like.
I would like to clarify that my stance on the London Film Festival artistic director has never been a negative one. At first, her appearances on here were simple and admiring (this first ever mention in September 2009 simply says that she ‘seems nice’). After a while, a running joke developed where I would be inordinately excited by her presence at the festival. Again, this wasn’t some kind of cruel mockery, the joke as it was (and it really doesn’t stand up to this kind of intense deconstruction) was that she was an unlikely candidate for the near-celebrity status she’s afforded during the festival’s two-week run. I understand that references to ‘Sandra Fucking Hebron’ could have been misconstrued as derogatory but I can assure you my expletives were only ever used for excitable emphasis.
I hoped to clear up the matter in the interview I did with Sandra last December, but it seems some people are still confused so I will say this one more time:
I LIKE SANDRA HEBRON
