The Big Three

It seems like no-one looks at our Trailers section any more, probably as a result of that brief period when we started putting ads for gin before the trailers (for the thousandth time, I apologise). It’s a shame, because often the stuff we put in there is more interesting than the stuff we put on the homepage.
If you missed them, trailers for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Heartbreaker and The Green Hornet all went up last week.
Three even bigger titans have shown up on the interfeed this week, so we thought we’d stick them here in the hope that at least a dozen people actually watch them. Enjoy!
HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS
After the near-perfect trailer that introduced us to the Half-Blood Prince back in 2009, it’s hard not to see this one as slightly messy by comparison. It climaxes about three times, only to carry on as if nothing happened, while the avalanche of text (most of it explaining the ‘two parts’ concept) is often distracting. That said, it’s so dark that it’s probably not designed for internet viewing, and one thing you certainly can’t deny is the effort that’s gone in to Hermione’s array of jazzy outfits:
Here’s hoping it’s amazing like the last one, rather than shit like all the others.
THE SOCIAL NETWORK
Like anyone with a brain, I have total faith in Fincher and his Facebook movie. But I can’t help that feel that this particularly teasy teaser trailer is a bit of a missed opportunity. When it comes to audio-focused teasers, this is less like the Dark Knight and more like a crappy fan effort. The weight of importance given to people talking about website hits strikes a bizarre chord too. Top marks for the logo though…
… beautiful.
LITTLE FOCKERS
It’s amazing that over a decade has passed since the release of Meet the Parents and yet the similarity between the words ‘Focker’ and ‘fucker’ is still the funniest joke known to humankind. You might think that the impact of this simple wordplay would wear off after the first dozen uses, but instead it gets funnier with every iteration, and continues to inspire LOLs the world over as it is given more and more airplay in each successive sequel. I’m laughing just thinking about it.
